Melvin E. Greiwe, 87, of Higginsville, died September 3rd at the Lafayette Regional Health Center.  

He was born February 7, 1928, in Alma, to Edwin and Lorna (Franz) Greiwe. 

He married Jeanette Pieper on November 27, 1952 in Lexington, Missouri.

Melvin worked most of his life as an auto mechanic. He worked at Porter Chevrolet, Avenue 66, Highway Auto Service and Carl and Bob’s Auto Service. He taught for a year at the vo-tech in Macon, MO. After his retirement he worked at the Red Shanty for several years. 

Melvin was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #223, and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife; son, Terry; brothers, Ralph and Homer. 

He is survived by: 
Sons:  Mike Greiwe (Josie) of Gulfport, MS
David Greiwe (Jenny) of Millstadt, IL 
Sisters:  Helen Erdman of Higginsville
Dorothy Heimsoth of Concordia

7 Grandchildren 6 Great Grandchildren

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8th from 7-8 pm at the Kaiser~Wiegers Funeral Home

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 9th at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Marcus Jauss.

Casket Bearers are Drew Greiwe, John Greiwe, Russell Erdman, Doug Heimsoth, Kenton Dittmer, Matt Tonnar.

Burial will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery with an honor guard provided by American Legion Post #223 and the U.S. Army

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church
