Robert Allan Sargent, 71, of Belton, died November 27th at the Warrensburg Manor.

He was born January 31, 1945 in Ames, IA, to Leroy and Marjorie (Anderson) Sargent.

They moved to Oklahoma where he spent his childhood and graduated from high school and college. It is also where he me his future wife, Peggy Countryman. They were married December 27, 1966 in Guymon, OK. 

Robert joined the ROTC in college and entered the Army in 1968. He served two years, was honorably discharged and then went to work for the Marine Corps as a computer programmer for 15 years. From there he went to work for ATT where he worked in management as a programmer for 10 years. 

Robert was a member of the Grandview Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed participating in softball, basketball and bowling leagues; playing cards and board games; and fishing with his son. He and Peggy traveled all of the lower 48 states and Robert was able to go on a trip to visit the Holy Lands. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside Services will be held Thursday, December 1st at noon at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.


Memorial Services will be held Thursday, December 1st at 2:30 pm at the Grandview Church of the Nazarene in Grandview, MO 

Memorials are suggested to NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) or Grandview Church of the Nazarene
