Shirley Jeanne Van Zant, 59, of Higginsville, died January 3, 2021 at Research Medical Center.  

She was born May 7, 1961 in Buckner, MO to Lawrence and Gloria (McDaniel) Peterson.

She married Jerry E. Chamberlin on May 28, 1979. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1982. She married David Sanders, Sr. on August 28, 1985, they separated in the early 1990’s. She started seeing Eldon Van Zant in 1997. They were married July 27, 2001.

Shirley moved to Higginsville during her grade school years and has lived in the area ever since. 
She attended CMSU for a couple of years and served in the ROTC during that time. 
In addition to her homemaker duties, she worked for the IRS. 
Shirley enjoyed crocheting and puzzle books. She played the clarinet in the Sweet Springs and Higginsville Community Bands.

In addition to her husband, Jerry, she is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lawrence “Little Larry” and Russell Peterson; and a sister, Marguerite Lynn Foster.
