Betty Jane Stuenkel, 92, of Corder, passed away on November 6, 2016 at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.
She was born on November 29, 1923 in Corder to Ernest and Leah (Frerking) Kuddes.
Betty attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall. She married Herbert E. Stuenkel January 7, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Corder where she had been baptized and confirmed. Together they served in Ministry in Kansas City, MO; San Francisco, Anaheim, Napa, Diamond Bar, and Menifee, CA; and Baltimore, MD. After Herbert’s death, Betty lived on her own in Orange, CA and Grand Lake, CO and finally returned to Corder where she lived with her sister, Marcile Ehlers.
During her career, Betty worked as a secretary at Mercantile Bank & Trust and Massengill in Kansas City. In the San Francisco area she was employed at Westinghouse Electric Lamp Division and Lutheran Care for the Aging. While in Baltimore, MD, Betty worked with her husband at Lutheran High School of Orange County and Edenwald.
A lifelong Lutheran, Betty showed her love for her Savior Jesus through her loving care for her family, church choir and women's groups. Betty and Herb enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and she loved keeping in touch with her family and many friends across the country.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Jack Kuddes.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, November 16th at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Concordia, officiated by Pastor Mark Junkin of Zion Lutheran Church
