Donald “Dog” Siegfried, 84, of Higginsville, died August 16th.  

He was born September 2, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Frank and Jean (Rankin) Siegfried. 

He married Barbara Ann Franke on July 3, 1952. He put his college on hold and entered the Army in November of 1953, serving until October of 1955. He then finished his college and became a civil engineer. He worked for the railroad and Missouri highway department before a long career with the Corps of Engineers. He was stationed in the Napoleon office and was very involved in the aftermath of the Great Missouri flood.  

Don and Barbara were instrumental in Higginsville’s involvement with AFS foreign exchange student program for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 223. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf and attending football games. He will be inducted into the Higginsville High School Football Hall of Fame in the fall of 2018.

He is preceded in death by brothers, Charlie and Bob Siegfried; and sisters, Lucille Kensik and Frances Meade.

     8 Grandchildren           1 Great Grandchild 

Visitation will be Sunday, August 19th from 3-5 pm at the Salem United Church of Christ

Funeral Services will be held, Monday, August 20th at 10:30 am at the Salem United Church of Christ, officiated by Pastor, Dr. Tommy Faris.

Casket Bearers will be Jared Siegfried, Shane Siegfried, Anthony Cowan, Matthew Cowan, Joshua Cowan, Patrick Siegfried.

A military honor guard will be provided by American Legion Post 223.

He will be buried at the Salem Cemetery. 

Memorials are suggested to Heart of America Teen Challenge or the Lafayette C-1 Social Worker Fund.
