Ethel C. (Dothage) Ruehter, 88, of Higginsville, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Meyer Care Center
She was born July 16, 1933, in rural Lexington, to Erwin and Esther (Meinershagen) Dothage.
She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School. She married Frank Ruehter on November 19, 1953. They spent most of their married life in Corder. She moved to Higginsville in 1987.
Ethel was known, and hired, for her cake decorating talents. She even taught decorating classes for a time. She worked at Ace Radio for a while, but her heart was in the babysitting that she did in her home, over the years, for numerous kids.
She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; brother, Ralph; sisters, Luetta Soendker, Alvera Johnson, Althea Dothage.
She is survived by:

She was known as Grandma Ethel to many.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 1st from 5-7 pm at Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Monday, August 2nd at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am, officiated by Fr. Tom Hawkins.
Casket Bearers will be Danny Duffey, Lance Tieman, Mark Gross, Stan Rhodes, Todd Rechterman, Kyle Warren
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Matthew Ruehter, Donnie Homfeld, Andy Homfeld, Brett Hoeflicker, Austin Alumbaugh, Ashley Page, Casey Meads, Jacob Cottrill
She will be buried in the City Cemetery
