Mary Elizabeth Rinne, 63, of Higginsville, died on November 2, 2021 at her home.  

She was born July 4, 1958 in Terre Haute, IN to John and Donna (Hengstenberg) Rogers. John died when she was very young. 

Mary grew up in Columbia, MO and attended MU after high school, earning a BS in childhood development. She met Roger Rinne while they were in college. They were married on August 16, 1980. She graduated a year ahead of him and worked at a daycare. They lived in Columbia for a year while he finished school. Then they began a series of moves and started their family. They lived in Plains, KS for a year; then on to Marshall, MO for 4 years. They spent 5 years in Nashville, AR before settling in Higginsville in 1992. During the past 30 years Mary worked as a cook at the school, and had a daycare in their home.

She loved cooking for family, friends and for church dinners and events. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and especially enjoyed the Wednesday night adult bible study class. Her favorite hobby was scrapbooking, where her attention to detail and artistry were on full display.

Mary is preceded in death by her birth father; Sam Marsh, Sr. (the man who raised her); and a nephew, Andrew Marsh.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 7th from 5-7 pm at Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, November 8th at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Higginsville, preceded by the recitation of the holy rosary at 10:00 am.

She will be buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery
