Dorothea “Dot” Renno-Nadler

Dorothea “Dot” Renno-Nadler, 82, died October 6, 2017 at the Centerpoint Medical Center.
Dot was born October 14, 1934 in Ridgeway, MO to Ernest and Lorene (Roegge) Flucke. The family moved to Wellington in 1943 to take care of grandparents. She and her brother, Ernie, attended Flournoy grade school and Wellington High School. As a senior, Dot worked at the Wellington Bank and then attended Central Missouri State College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education and later her Masters degree.
In 1955, she married Dick Renno of Wellington. After their college graduation, they both taught at Orrick High School. Dick coached football and taught math and Dot taught business classes, freshman math, girls’ physical education, coached the girls basketball team, and sponsored the Pep Club, cheerleaders, and Junior Class.
In August l960, Dick and Dot moved to Higginsville and she began a 32-year teaching career here starting with five freshman English classes, general business and business math. Dot furthered her education by continuing to take classes at CMSU in Warrensburg and when the high school expanded its curriculum, she then taught vocational business, computer programming, word processing and other new courses with the emerging technology at the time. Over the course of her career, she taught each of the business classes that was ever offered at the high school. Dot was selected as Business Teacher of the Year by the Central District Business Teachers and recognized as the Teacher of the Year by the Missouri Central District Teachers. After retirement, she worked for several businesses in Higginsville and ran her own business which she closed seven years ago. As a family, they Rennos operated Lakeside B-B-Q on Cole Camp Creek arm of Lake of the Ozarks in Lincoln, MO from 1980 to 1988. Dick passed away in September of 2003.
Dot has been an active member and leader in many community and service organizations:

Dot is a member of Salem United Church of Christ and served as Treasurer on the Church Council, Chairman of Mary-Martha Circle, member of the Women’s Fellowship Board, and Co-Chairman of the Condolence Committee. In the past, she sang in the choir; taught Sunday School, primary, and nursery classes and served on various committees. She has also served as a substitute organist for several churches in the area.
Dot is a member of Salem United Church of Christ and served as Treasurer on the Church Council, Chairman of Mary-Martha Circle, member of the Women’s Fellowship Board, and Co-Chairman of the Condolence Committee. She has also served as a substitute organist for several churches in the area.•She was a long-time member of Preceptor Delta Xi sorority and has served in all the offices.

She was Secretary of the State Committee that was in charge of the 1992 State Convention in Kansas City.

She has served as Chapter Secretary, Worthy Matron, District Deputy Grand Matron, and on Grand Chapter Committees. She was also President of the 2011 District Deputies Club.

She was a lifetime member in the Missouri State Teachers Association and Missouri Retired Teachers Association.

She and Larry were life-long friends and lived a joyful and full life in the past 6 years. They lived in Higginsville and enjoyed spending time together traveling, going out to dinner, seeing plays and musicals, visiting with friends and extended family, and cooking and baking cookies for others. She was blessed to be welcomed into the extended Nadler family and was loved by all of Larry’s children, James and Pamela Nadler, Donald and Vickie Nadler, Thomas and Sally Nadler, Katherine and Thomas Christensen, and Kristina and Joseph Sorrelli, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Dot is preceded in death by her first husband, Dick Renno, and her son, Chuck Renno.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Nadler; brother Ernie Flucke and his wife Maxine; son Rick Renno; daughter, Valerie Ruehter and her husband Mark; and grandchildren, Morgan Renno, Heath Renno, Brett Ruehter, and Paige Ruehter.
Dot has left a positive impact on many lives. She is well loved and will be greatly missed by all!
Visitation will be Monday, October 9th from 6-8 pm at the Salem United Church of Christ
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 10th at 10:30 am at the church.
She will be buried in the City Cemetery
