Barry J. Penny, 67, of Blue Springs, formerly of Wellington and Saline County, died Sept 15th at the NorthCare Hospice House.

He was born November 18, 1950 in Marshall, MO to Joe and Gladys (Stith) Penny.
They lived in Arrow Rock when he was young and he graduated from Marshall High School. 

He lived in many places over the years and had several factory jobs, but his work in nursing, specifically at Big Bend Retreat in Slater, was what gave him the most reward. He took great joy in caring for people through nursing. 
  

He was also very proud of his service in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He loved the outdoors, hunting deer, turkey and small game, and enjoyed playing guitar.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Penny, and his parents.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Sept. 21st at 2:30 pm, at the Kaiser-Wiegers Funeral Home in Higginsville, officiated by Rev. Terry Cook

Casket Bearers will be Troy Penny, Austin Penny, JT Blackwell, Carl Anglen, Art Proctor, Jake Goins

Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. 

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
