JD Minks, 91, of Higginsville, died March 1, 2020 at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
He was born March 6, 1928 in Collins, MO to Davis and Edosia “Pet” (Jackson) Minks.
He married Mickey Bledsoe on June 14, 1947 in Belleville, KS. She preceded him in death in 2001.
JD worked for the Missouri Highway Department for 36 years. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was a member of American Legion Post 223 for 66 years. He was a Baptist.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by brothers, Cleve and Cleo Minks; sisters, Sylvia Simpson, Goldie Fleury, Florence Bluh, Marie Gleason.
He is survived by:
Daughter: Linda Kresse (John) of Higginsville
Brother: Curtis Minks of Higginsville
Sister: Betty Milam of Higginsville
Granddaughter: Tiffany Toi Kresse of Bellevue, NE
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 5th at 10:30 am at the Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Greg Fine.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
Casket Bearers will be Jeff Minks, Mike Minks, Mark Minks, Jarrod Summers, Ronny Gleason, David Walker, Gary Fricke, Gary Bauer
He will be buried in the City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 223 or the Missouri Veterans Home (Warrensburg) Memory Unit
