Viola E. Meinershagen, 93, formerly of Higginsville, died on April 6, 2020 at the Country Oaks Village in Grain Valley.  

She was born April 8, 1926 in Augusta, MO, to Oscar and Dena (Hindersmann) Bergsieker.

She graduated from Schleursberg High School. She married Oscar Meinershagen, Jr. on May 19, 1946 in Higginsville. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1976.

Viola worked at the International Shoe Company from 1942-1949. She then stayed home for 20 years to raise their children. She went back to work part time at the Lafayette County C-1 schools, in the cafeteria, from 1969-1973. She then went to work at the Higginsville Garment Factory from 1973-1982. Her last job was at the Higginsville Habilitation Center, from 1983-1990.
She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ where was in the Ruth Circle. She helped with Sunday school, and was one of the Salem Quilters.

She is also preceded in death by brothers, Ernst, Louis and Raymond Bergsieker; sisters, Dora Homfeld, Elsie Humburg, Verna Bedford, Erna Schaefer; great granddaughter, Harper Wimmer.

She is survived by:

                  Bruce Meinershagen (Debbie)  of Rapid City, SD
Daughter:    Venita Gilkey                         of Grain Valley 

5 Grandchildren      9 Great Grandchildren     1 Great Great Granddaughter 

Private graveside services will be held at the Salem Cemetery.  

Casket Bearers will be Robert Bergsieker, Ronnie Bergsieker, David Bedford, Terry Kirchhoff, Phil Still, Eric Gilkey.

Memorials are suggested to Salem United Church of Christ.
