Raymond Lee Manning, 90, of Mayview, died February 5, 2018 at the Redwood Nursing Home in Independence 

He was born February 11, 1927 in Higginsville, to Ray and Ruth (Robinette) Manning. 

He married Margaret Knutson on February 5, 1954 in Odessa. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2010.

Raymond worked as a livestock handler for 40 years. He worked for Allis-Chalmers/Duetz-Allis manufacturing for 20 years. He farmed until 1974. In his retirement he enjoyed cutting wood, scrapping for metal and helping neighbors.

He served in the Army in WWII, in the 101st Airborne and the 503rd MP’s in Italy.  He was a former member of the VFW.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Roy and Wilbur “Webb” Manning; his sisters, Sarah Rivers, Goldie Lampton, Susie Petty, Gertrude Petty, Bonita Blue.

He is survived by:  
Sons:       Terry and Mark Manning            of Mayview 
Brothers:  Walter Manning                        of Wheatland
               Clarence Manning                     of Carthage  
Sister:      Ruth Lampton                          of Blue Springs

8 Grandchildren                 13 Great Grandchildren 

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7th at 2:30 pm at the Kaiser-Wiegers Funeral Home in Higginsville, officiated by Reverend Jesse Barnhart.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral

He will be buried in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. 

Casket Bearers will be Terry Manning, Mark Manning, Misty Manning, Niki Manning, Charity Manning, Chevelle Almstrom
