Flora A. Kennedy, 92, of Higginsville, died October 9th at the Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

She was born June 7, 1927 in Hubbardston, MA to George and Flora (Stone) Wells

She married John W. Kennedy on March 27, 1954 in Hubbardston. They began their married life in California and then John’s Air Force career moved them to Forbes Field in Topeka, KS, Bermuda and Oklahoma before he retired and they settled in Higginsville in 1967. Soon after, Flora began her 38+ year career as a housekeeper at John Knox Village East. 

Flora was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and the Women’s Missionary Union. She was an avid reader, and Royals fan, coaching them from her recliner. She read her bible everyday and prayed for the sick. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2000; a son, Paul; brothers, Frank, Allen and Harold Wells; a sister, Clara Wead; and a grandson Damon

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 15th at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Higginsville, officiated by Dr. Greg Fine

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.

Casket Bearers will be Donnie Kennedy, Brad Bayless, Tim Moyer, Ed Nuelle, Dennis Million

She will be buried in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery 

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church
