Janice “Maria” Kappelman, 64, of Higginsville, died at her home on April 4, 2021.
She was born July 21, 1956, in Independence, MO to Roland and Lula (Howerton) Coleman.
She married Bryce Kappelman on March 5, 1995 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Maria worked at Dog and Suds as a kid. She started at Willis and Jeanne’s at age 21, and worked there for over 20 years. She also worked as a cook at the Lutheran School for 3 years, for a time at Piggly Wiggly and as a sales rep for the Higginsville Advance.
Maria was a proud Golden State Warriors fan, but it was her grandkids sporting events that were her priority. She never missed a game.
She is preceded in death by her dad; a brother, Samuel Coleman; and a son-in-law, Chris McBride.
She is survived by:

Daughter: Lucinda Christina Pippin (Davy) of Higginsville
Mother: Lula Stonner of Higginsville
6 Grandchildren: Madelyn, Camryn, Jaecob McBride, Averie, Hailey, Taylor Pippin.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 8th from 5-7 pm at Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Friday, April 9th at 2:oo pm at Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Tim Biesemeyer.
Casket Bearers will be Camryn McBride, Jaecob McBride, Bart Kappelman, Mike McBride, Greg Rechterman, Jeff Rechterman.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Larry Duvall, Darrell Rinne, Donald Neher, Gail Tieman, Cara Elmore.
She will be buried in the City Cemetery
