Lara Goins, 53, of Concordia, died January 20, 2021 at her home.
Lara was born June 21, 1967 in Independence, Missouri to Ronald and Sandra (Yardley) Botts, growing up on a farm. She married Preston Goins on September 13, 1986. They moved to Concordia in 1994 and raised three wonderful children.
Lara was a beautiful mother and homemaker. She loved her part-time job at the Sweet Springs Post Office as a rural mail carrier. She previously worked as a veterinary assistant, owned a dog grooming business, raised alpacas and volunteered for Lakeside Nature Center in Kansas City.
Lara’s warm, selfless heart held a special place for animals and nature.
She took great pleasure in tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, koi pond, and caring for all animals that crossed her path. Raccoons were her favorite!
Lara’s other passion was food. Nothing brought her more joy than cooking and baking for her family. She was an exceptional cook and forever had a new, exciting dish to create. It was always delicious. She dreamed of opening her own restaurant someday.
Lara loved her children more than anything in this world. In her final days, she learned that she was to become a Grandma; Shane and his wife, Meredith are expecting their first child. The news brought her unspeakable joy.
We lost our hero, our caretaker, our heart.
This cancer devastated her worldly body, but not her heavenly spirit- it will live and love on. There is no doubt that she is with our God in heaven, as she was a born again Christian. May the Lord bless her soul and this family, AMEN.

She is preceded in death by her father.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 3:00 pm, at the family home.
