Juliet "Judy" Virginia (Fairchild) Fleischmann

Judy Fleischmann, 92, of Higginsville, died, November 18th at the Lutheran Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Concordia.  

She was born in Lexington, Missouri on May 13, 1925, the oldest of eleven children, to Bernie Newton Fairchild, Sr. and Clara Henrietta Caroline (Jaspering) Fairchild. She married August Charles Fleischmann on July 13, 1945 at the First Baptist Church parsonage in Lexington. Upon August's discharge from the Army they moved to Higginsville where both of their children were born. In February, 2017 Judy moved to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia after living in the family home for over 53 years.

She graduated from Lexington High School in 1943. She was a Certified Laboratory Leader/ Instructor for the United Methodist Church and taught classes in the Central District, the Missouri Annual Conference, and at Mt. Sequoia in Fayetteville, Arkansas for the South Central Jurisdiction. Judy was also a Certified Housing Manager for the Higginsville Housing Authority.
Judy grew up and was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Lexington. She was active in the Girl's Auxiliary there. After August's Army discharge they moved to Higginsville and joined Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a member for almost 60 continuous years. In local churches she taught Sunday School, Confirmation classes and Vacation Bible School. She was an active member of the Martha Circle and the United Methodist Women. She received the UMW Lifetime Membership Award from Grace Church and the Central District.

While in High School she worked as a waitress at Maid's Cafe. Shortly after graduating from high school she went to work at the Lake City Arsenal Plant. Judy worked for Pioneer Trails Council of the Girl Scouts of America. She also served as a Brownie and a Girl Scout troop leader and a Cub Scout den mother. Judy served as the secretary of both the Lexington and Higginsville United Methodist churches serving with 5 different pastors. Judy was responsible for all the inventory and bookkeeping for their family business, Fleischmann's Mobil Service. She was the Administrative Assistant Manager for the Higginsville Housing Authority for 10 years until she retired in 1983.

Judy loved her family. She and August were married for 64 1/2 years. They had two children: Sandra (Fred) Haustein of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Ron (Janet) Fleischmann of Concordia, Missouri. She enjoyed times with her grandsons and great grandchildren: Mark and Katrina Haustein, parents of Cole Garrett and Kinley Elise; and Dr. Matt and Melissa Haustein, parents of Anna Katherine and Reid August, all from Jonesboro, Arkansas.

She is also survived by brothers: Bernie, Jr. (Betty) of Odessa; Robert (Martha, dec.) of Eiko, GA; Elmer (R'Dell) of Flemington; and Don B. (Sue, dec.) of Versailles; and sisters: Helen Draisey of Higginsville, Carol (Harold, dec.) Soendker of Napoleon, and Shirley (Jim) Smith of Richmond. Other survivors include a great number of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear neighbors and friends.

 In addition to her husband and parents, Judy is preceded in death by three siblings: sister Bertha Fairchild (who died in infancy); and brothers Emmet Fairchild and William Fairchild.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 19th from 5:00-6:30 at Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 20th at 10:00 am at the Grace United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Terry Cook.

Casket Bearers are Matt Haustein, Mark Haustein, Joe Thurmon, Micah Thurmon, Ronnie Heman, Christopher Frizzell

Honorary Casket Bearers are Dr. C. Dale and Jean Replogle, Terry and Anne Marie Wells, Glenn and Julie Opfer

She will be buried in the City Cemetery
