Willard “Bill” F. Dieckhoff, 90, formerly of Alma, died March 25th at the Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.
He was born August 23, 1928 in Alma to George and Mary (Rolf) Dieckhoff.
He entered the US Army on February 8, 1951 and served until his honorable discharge on November 7, 1952. He returned to Alma and started farming with his brother, Harold. He married Dorothy Brunkhorst on October 19, 1958. The two were happily married until Dorothy’s death on August 10, 2009. In 1973 he sold his farm and started working at the State School (Higginsville Habilitation Center) in the maintenance department. He retired in 1990.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #478 in Blackburn.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harold; and sisters, Clara Meyer, Marie Kalthoff, Leona Krause.
He is survived by his brother, Alfred Dieckhoff of Higginsville and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 27th at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, officiated by Pastor Bernard Ross.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.
Casket Bearers will be Ellis Dieckhoff, Ronald Stoll, John Keeton, Richard Long, Gary Chastine and Everett Lovercamp.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Jason Dieckhoff and Cameron Dieckhoff.
He will be buried in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
